Fortunately "illegal land" does not exist.
It can exist illegal buildings, constructed without permission. And it can exist illegal immigration, if a persons stays without permission. But land never can be illegal.
BUT, before purchasing any real estate property, you should always check the legal situation, the building-possibilities, if you want to build, and the geographic situation of a land. (See also the under menu: brazilian real estate law.)
In "Ilha do Guajirú" for example, a real estate firm is offering nature protected land, land which is flooded partially on high-tide, or swamp.land, as building plots.
And all this to a multiple price compared to the average price in that area.
Therefore, do not be afraid to buy, but check exactly what you are buying. There is a lot of nice land around, from serious sellers.
